Rants and rumblings from Portland, Oregon

About

Home Life

I live in south east Portland, Oregon in a neighbourhood called Foster-Powell (Fo-po for short). I’m happily married to Jessica Gustafson.

Work Life

I currently work at eROI, Inc., a mid-sized interactive design agency and software company. I started at eROI when it was still a very small company. One of the best things about working at eROI is the culture. The group of people that work there are all extremely talented and fun to work with. It’s a high-volume but relaxed work environment.

Fun

I love the outdoors. I always look foward to hiking and camping either on the Oregon coast, around the Portland-metro region or in the Cascades. I also love to travel, especially to foreign countries. Among my favourite countries are Czech Republic, Mexico, Costa Rica and Thailand.

Early Years

I grew up in Eugene, Oregon. I attended Arrowhead Preschool, Corridor Elementary, DaVinci Middle School and North Eugene High School. Growing up in North Eugene provided a lot of good memories. The neighbourhood is enclosed on one side by one of the largest rail yards on the west coast and on the other side by the Willamette River. During the 80’s when I was a child their were still many fields to play in and had a much more rural feel. These days those fields have all been filled in by housing developments. Probably the most popular activity was heading down to the river where the bike path traced both sides of the river through the length of town. There was many swimming holes, rope swings and great blackberry picking.
